We will take you to explore the different districts/neighborhoods in Lima to see what it is like here and why it's visited by many tourists. In this video, we will also show you some of the most amazing places to see, our favorite places in the city; Where to go, what to eat. If you are planning to travel to Peru and have Lima on your list, this is the travel video for you. Knowing what you can expect from Lima, Peru is important to better plan your vacation/trips. Exploring Lima was actually one of the highlights of our trip. From culture, food, people, scenery, it literally has everything to offer everyone. The main first impression in Lima that you will get is that you will probably shock/surprise on how diverse the city is. If you visit the historic center of Lima you will get the total different feeling from when you visit Barranco or Miraflores.

Lima is home to one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the New World. The National University of San Marcos, founded on 12 May 1551, during the Spanish colonial empire, is the first officially established and the oldest continuously functioning university in the Americas.
Nowadays the city is considered as the political, cultural, financial and commercial center of the country. Internationally, it is one of the thirty most populated urban agglomerations in the world. Due to its geostrategic importance, it has been defined as a "beta" city.
Jurisdictionally, the metropolis extends mainly within the province of Lima and in a smaller portion, to the west, within the constitutional province of Callao, where the seaport and the Jorge Chávez airport are located. Both provinces have regional autonomy since 2002.
In October 2013, Lima was chosen to host the 2019 Pan American Games, these games were held at venues in and around Lima, and were the largest sporting event ever hosted by the country. It also hosted the APEC Meetings of 2008 and 2016, the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in October 2015, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December 2014, and the Miss Universe 1982 contest.

Lima is a restaurant in London, United Kingdom, which serves Peruvian cuisine. The chef patron is Virgilio Martínez Véliz. In 2014, it was awarded a Michelin star, the first time a restaurant serving this cuisine had been awarded a star in Europe.

Lima is owned by Gabriel and Jose Luis Gonzalez, in conjunction with Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez Véliz. The front of house is run by maître d’ Bunmi Okolosi, formerly of Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. In the kitchen, Roberto Ortiz is the head chef of the restaurant as overseen by chef patron Virgilio Martínez Véliz. Martínez Véliz is the chef at Central Restaurante in Lima, Peru, which was named 15th in the 2014 The World's 50 Best Restaurants.
The interior of Lima was designed by Erik Munro, and features a mural whilst the rest of the restaurant is beige. The restaurant is small and narrow, and mirrors are used to give the impression of greater space. A skylight lights the rear of the restaurant, the remainder of which is lit by candles and industrial-style lamps. The kitchen is open to the dining area of the restaurant.

Peruvian territory was home to ancient cultures spanning from the Norte Chico civilization in Caral, one of the oldest in the world, to the Inca Empire, the largest state in Pre-Columbian America. The Spanish Empire conquered the region in the 16th century and established a Viceroyalty with its capital in Lima, which included most of its South American colonies. Ideas of political autonomy later spread throughout Spanish America and Peru gained its independence, which was formally proclaimed in 1821. After the battle of Ayacucho, three years after proclamation, Peru ensured its independence. After achieving independence, the country remained in recession and kept a low military profile until an economic rise based on the extraction of raw and maritime materials struck the country, which ended shortly before the war of the Pacific. Subsequently, the country has undergone changes in government from oligarchic to democratic systems. Peru has gone through periods of political unrest and internal conflict as well as periods of stability and economic upswing.

Peruvian wine
Peruvian wine is wine made in the South American country of Peru. Peruvian winemaking dates back to the Spanish colonization of the region in the 16th century.
Production
Peru shares a similar climate with wine-producing country Chile, which is favourable for producing wine. In 2008, there were some 14,000 hectares (35,000 acres) of grape plantations in Peru, including table grapes, and some 610,000 hectolitres (13,000,000 imp gal; 16,000,000 US gal) of wine was produced, with an increasing trend in both plantations and wine production. Most vineyards are located on the central coast, around Pisco and Ica, where most of Peru's winemaking and distillation takes place.
Grape varieties cultivated include Albillo, Alicante Bouschet, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Malbec, Moscatel, Sauvignon blanc and Torontel.
History
The first grapevines were brought to Peru shortly after its conquest by Spain. Spanish chroniclers from the time note that the first vinification in South America took place in the hacienda Marcahuasi of Cuzco. However, the largest and most prominent vineyards of the 16th and 17th century Americas were established in the Ica valley of south-central Peru. In the 1540s, Bartolomé de Terrazas and Francisco de Carabantes began vineyards in Peru. The latter established vineyards in Ica, which Spaniards from Andalucia and Extremadura used to introduce grapevines into Chile.

We will take you to explore the different districts/neighborhoods in Lima to see what it is like here and why it's visited by many tourists. In this video, we will also show you some of the most amazing places to see, our favorite places in the city; Where to go, what to eat. If you are planning to travel to Peru and have Lima on your list, this is the travel video for you. Knowing what you can expect from Lima, Peru is important to better plan your vacation/trips. Exploring Lima was actually one of the highlights of our trip. From culture, food, people, scenery, it literally has everything to offer everyone. The main first impression in Lima that you will get is that you will probably shock/surprise on how diverse the city is. If you visit the historic center of Lima you will get the total different feeling from when you visit Barranco or Miraflores.

New to Peru? There are so many things about Lima, Peru that totally shocked us as foreigners traveling here for the first time. We will take you to explore the different districts/neighborhoods in Lima to see what it is like here and why it's visited by many tourists. In this video, we will also show you some of the most amazing places to see, our favorite places in the city; Where to go, what to eat. If you are planning to travel to Peru and have Lima on your list, this is the travel video for you. Knowing what you can expect from Lima, Peru is important to better plan your vacation/trips. Exploring Lima was actually one of the highlights of our trip. From culture, food, people, scenery, it literally has everything to offer everyone. The main first impression in Lima that you will get is that you will probably shock/surprise on how diverse the city is. If you visit the historic center of Lima you will get the total different feeling from when you visit Barranco or Miraflores.

In Lima’s Historic Center is the Plaza de Armas, also known as the Plaza Mayor. #Visit Government Palace which is still the official seat of government today.
Continue your #vacation outside of the city center. The Bajada de los Baños in bohemian Barranco is home to the Bridge of Sighs. In Miraflores is Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Columbian temple of some 1,500 years old. The Museo Larco in Pueblo Libre contains amazing pre-Columbian artifacts.
Don’t miss Lima’s parks. Parque de las Leyendas is a zoo and Parque de Exposición has fountains to play in and an awe-inspiring light show.

Lima is home to one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the New World. The National University of San Marcos, founded on 12 May 1551, during the Spanish colonial empire, is the first officially established and the oldest continuously functioning university in the Americas.
Nowadays the city is considered as the political, cultural, financial and commercial center of the country. Internationally, it is one of the thirty most populated urban agglomerations in the world. Due to its geostrategic importance, it has been defined as a "beta" city.
Jurisdictionally, the metropolis extends mainly within the province of Lima and in a smaller portion, to the west, within the constitutional province of Callao, where the seaport and the Jorge Chávez airport are located. Both provinces have regional autonomy since 2002.
In October 2013, Lima was chosen to host the 2019 Pan American Games, these games were held at venues in and around Lima, and were the largest sporting event ever hosted by the country. It also hosted the APEC Meetings of 2008 and 2016, the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in October 2015, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December 2014, and the Miss Universe 1982 contest.

Lima is home to one of the oldest higher learning institutions in the New World. The National University of San Marcos, founded on May 12 of 1551, during Spanish colonial regime, is the oldest continuously functioning university in the Americas.
