Malaysia's poverty rate much higher than reported: UN special rapporteur
Malaysia's Minister of Economic Affairs Azmin Ali has expressed disappointment towards the latest poverty report by United Nations special rapporteur Philip Alston. Mr Alston put Malaysia’s poverty rate at 15%, much higher than the official figure of 0.4%. The national poverty line is set at under US$240 per household every month, which means the government expects an urban family of four to survive on less then US$2 a day. According to Mr Alston, that is impossible, given today's cost of living. Mr Azmin has slammed Mr Alston's remarks as unacceptable and irresponsible.

Russia responsible for Alexei Navalny poisoning claims UN Special Rapporteur
Russia was responsible for the poisoning of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny. That's according to a detailed report from two Special Rapporteurs for the United Nations, who called for his immediate release from prison.
They've accused the Kremlin of using the nerve agent Novichok against its opponents and said an independent investigation into the poisoning should be carried out as a matter of urgency.
We spoke to Agnes Callamard, the UN Special Rapporteur and one of the authors of the report, and began by asking what she wanted to achieve with it.
